The National Restaurant Association is canceling this year's show citing concerns regarding the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic.
The show was set to run May 16 through 19 in Chicago, according to a press release.
"We recognize the critical importance of the show to the industry and we know that this will come as a disappointment to those who had planned for months to attend. While it is not the outcome we wanted, amid all the uncertainty around the COVID-19 pandemic and the immense strain it has put our industry, the safety of our attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, vendor partners and our own staff is paramount. This is our community and we all must be kept safe," stated Mike Wood, CEO of Winsight LLC and Marvin Irby, NRA CEO and interim president in the release.
The show organizers thanked the group's membership for support as well. The NRA show is owned and operated by Winsight in an equity partnership with the NRA.
